15 Hour free education

Do you have a two-year-old?

Some two-year olds are entitled to 15 hours free early education per week for 38 weeks per year. If you are in receipt of one of the following benefits your child can access a free place.

  • Income Support
  • Income-based Jobseeker’s Allowance (JSA)
  • Income-related Employment and Support Allowance (ESA)
  • Universal Credit – if you and your partner have a combined income from work of £15,400 or less a year, after tax
  • Tax credits and you have an income of £16,190 or less a year, before tax
  • The guaranteed element of State Pension Credit

*These sessions can either be taken as free sessions term time only (these are limited - please contact us for availability) or deducted from fees when extra sessions are required - please ask for details.

 

 

Free Education Sessions

Three and four year olds are entitled to 15 hours of free nursery education for 38 weeks of the year. This applies until they reach compulsory school age (the term following their fifth birthday).

The table below shows when your child will become eligible for their free early learning place.

If your child is born between:

They are eligible for a free place from:

1 April and 31 August

1 September following their third birthday or the beginning of the autumn* school term

1 September and 31 December

1 January following their third birthday or the beginning of the spring* school term

1 January and 31 March

1 April following their third birthday or the beginning of the summer* school term

 * Based on a three-term school year

 

30 Hour free education

Some 3 and 4 year olds are eligible for 30 hours free childcare. This means that the Government will fund 30 hours of childcare per week for 38 weeks of the year (term-time) in an approved childcare setting for parents that work 16 hours or more per week.
